# Install SkillLoom skills

SkillLoom skills are folders (SKILL.md plus references and scripts) that your coding agent loads on demand.
The `skillloom` CLI downloads a skill, verifies its checksum and places it in your agent's skill folder.

Requirements: Node.js 20 or newer.

## 1. Sign in once

```bash
npx skillloom login
```

A browser window opens at https://skillloom.dev/device. Confirm the code shown in the terminal.
Your token is stored in the OS keychain (or ~/.skillloom/credentials.json with 0600 permissions).

## 2. Install a skill

```bash
npx skillloom install <slug>
npx skillloom install <slug> --agent claude-code
npx skillloom install <slug> --target ./my-project/.claude/skills
```

The slug is the last part of the skill URL: https://skillloom.dev/skills/<slug>.
Premium skills need a membership or a one-time purchase; the CLI prints the link if access is missing.

## 3. Check your setup

```bash
npx skillloom doctor
npx skillloom doctor --write-env   # saves SKILLLOOM_BASE_URL and SKILLLOOM_API_KEY to ~/.skillloom/env
```

Image and video skills call generation models through your own prepaid key. Issue the key in https://skillloom.dev/settings,
then run `doctor --write-env` and `source ~/.skillloom/env`.

## Other commands

```bash
npx skillloom list      # installed skills
npx skillloom update    # update all installed skills
npx skillloom agents    # supported agents and folders
npx skillloom logout
```
